Happy 4th of July, they all say,
But what it is, really, is Independence Day.
The birthday of the United States it's supposed to be
It just means so much more, you see.
It's an idea that all people are free,
That we are not slaves to a tyrant's ideology.
But we have apparently lost our way,
We now let others tell us what we're allowed to say.
Long ago our founders cast off King George's yoke,
But if they could see us now they'd choke.
Nowadays we are not free,
We're slaves to others in society.
They're taking our "inalienable rights" away,
They say for security it's the price we pay.
But, I say there's a better way;
One embodied by Independence Day!
